Align your LinkedIn profile

Before sending out any invitations to meet you face-to-face on Zoom, you must adjust your LinkedIn profile so that people will want to connect with you after visiting your profile.

When you invite others to meet you on Zoom, the first thing your invitee will do is look at your profile and ask themselves: what’s in it for me?

What do you want them to see when they visit your profile?

The first thing you want them to see in your Summary section is a paragraph with wording similar to the following:

“Although you and I may not be able to do business together (directly), it is highly likely that I will know people who could be great contacts for you. I’m always happy to help other people who also have a pay-it-forward attitude.”

When they see words to this effect, there is a good chance that they will want to meet you because it’s apparent that you know many great contacts who could be good connections for them. After you have established trust with them, you are willing to introduce them to your contacts.

The words: “I’m always happy to help other people who also have a pay-it-forward attitude”; should indicate to them that you are expecting that they are also willing to reciprocate by introducing you to relevant people they know.

It’s important to realise that your value to others is not what you can personally do for them.

Your value to others is the people you know.

In most cases, the people you know will be much more helpful to them than you will be.

Similarly, the people your invitee can introduce you to will most likely be of far more direct value to you than the person you are zooming with will be.

It’s all about who others can introduce you to, after they have come to know, like and trust you.
