Set up your standard proforma messages
MyMostTrusted allows you to set up some standard messages that can be used as a base for messaging on LinkedIn.
Most importantly, you can adjust each of these messages with every conversation you have on LinkedIn. You can also use TextBlaze to help you further customise and automate your messages.
Often you will customise each message to reflect what you are seeing on your candidate’s LinkedIn profile.
What’s the objective of your messages?
Your objective is to converse face-to-face, NOT on LinkedIn!
If you like what you see in a person’s LinkedIn profile, why not get to know them face-to-face (on Zoom) rather than waste time bantering backwards on LinkedIn?
As such, your connection request and subsequent messages should be requesting a Zoom meeting.
Having this approach also helps you to think more carefully about who you send connection requests to. This is a subject that we will be discussing in more depth soon!
Will the people you reach out to suspect your motives for wanting to connect with them?
You are reaching out to others for their benefit – not yours
Your primary reason for reaching out to others on LinkedIn is to find like-minded others that you can help by advocating for them (once trust has been established)
- In other words, you will be investing a lot of time helping them before you know if anything will directly come back from them
- You would do this to build trust and in the expectation that they will pay-it-forward
How will those I reach out to know I’m not trying to sell them anything?
When you make some minor tweaks to your LinkedIn profile, and you word your messages carefully, and you reach out to a carefully selected list, we find very, very few people mistake your intentions.
- Using our methodology, the people you reach out to on LinkedIn
- Do not see you as being someone who wants to sell them something
- They know that you intend to build trust by helping them to develop their networks and meet relevant like-minded others
We believe you will feel very comfortable reaching out to others on LinkedIn when you understand our processes.
Set up a proforma Invitation to Connect message
Set up a proforma “Thanks for Connecting” message
Note:
The best outcome from your “invitation to connect” is that the person you send the message replies with either:
- Love to connect on Zoom; here’s a link to my calendar – book in for a time that suits you
- OR
- Love to connect on Zoom; when would be a good time for you?
- In this case, you can send them a link to your calendar.
- Using a link to book in for a calendar saves a lot of time trying to juggle diaries.
- One of the best ways to do this is using the Calendly App.
If the person you sent the invitation responds in one of the above ways, you won’t even need to send them a “Thanks for Connecting” message. Instead, you’ll be talking face-to-face on Zoom.
The more care you take in selecting great, potentially like-minded candidates, the more likely you will have this outcome.
Nevertheless, some people will just click the “Connect” button on LinkedIn!
In that case, you get a chance to send a second message encouraging them to Zoom with you.
To set up a proforma message, follow these steps:
Now enter your message (you must use your own wording – we don’t want the exact same message coming from multiple people!)
Set up other proforma custom messages
You can also set up other custom messages as you find the need.
